John was a good and kind man, always caring about others. He had such a sweet soul that I could see every Sunday while talking with him in church. He will be missed terribly by all but he is now with our Lord, with no pain or suffering.

John was a friend of our family since my siblings and I were in elementary school, and on several occasions he and Helen watched us while my folks were away. In recent years, as his health allowed, he enjoyed listening to the Ringgold Band here in Berks County, with which I am the vocalist, and was always delighted to be in the audience when I sang a "golden oldie" by Gershwin or Cole Porter that he recognized.
