John J. Kudelka Sr., 82 of Granite City passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. John was born on April 16, 1929 in Granite City. He worked for Luria Brothers as a crane operator for over 30 years, was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by and will be missed by his sons; John J. Kudelka Jr. of Granite City, Scott A. Kudelka of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren, John J. Kuldelka III , Jamie & (Terry) Hall, Angela Burleson, Heather Story; great-grandchildren, John J. Kudelka IV, Hunter Burleson, Brooklyn Burleson, Zayden Story, Kaitlyn Moore, Destiny Kudelka; brother, Robert & (Jean) Kudelka of Granite City. He was preceded in death by his parents, John J. & Francis (Lizbar) Kudelka and his wife, Helen (Bayer) Kudelka, whom he married on August 28, 1948. Friends may call on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, 3715 Wabash Ave. in Granite City with Dr. David Fielding officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
