Not sure what to say?

Sister Lasater and family,
Just received the sad news via a call from John Pusey and our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. We have special memories of our time together in Germany and are so grateful for your friendship, leadership and love then and over the past nearly 50 years. We are sorry to be far away in Maine visiting Brent and his family, but we are surely with you in spirit. We share with you great memories and the knowledge of wonderful reunions to look...

John was indeed a friend in time of need; a humble man, compassionate and strong. Our love to his family.

Then-President Lasater was an angel of mercy for our family in 1972. In addition to being our wonderful Home Teacher and Stake President, he accompanied our family and the body of my father from Germany to the US, and was by our side through the funeral. He has a special place in our hearts, and we are forever indebted to him, and his family for being gracious about his absence. We love you, and are grateful for the knowledge that we have that this is but a brief separation.

Our condolences to Marilyn and family. We still remember fondly when John and Marilyn and their four daughters arrived at Laon France AFB. Our tiny branch population increased by about 20%. We were newlyweds at the time and they were an inspiration to us as to what a righteous family could be. It was a privilege to serve with John in the branch presidency while we were there.
We send our love to the entire Lasater family. Our lives were enriched by having been associated with John....

As a fellow veteran of the USAF I'm grateful and in awe of his service. As a stranger, but fellow Latter-Day Saint, God be with you till you meet again.
