Lathrop, John LApril 18, 2012John L Lathrop, 52, of Fayetteville, NY, died after a long, no holds barred cage match battle with ALS. His diagnosis in 2009 gave him plenty of time to write this obit, which he did, so blame no one but the deceased. His immediate plan, post demise, was to go to...

Not sure what to say?

Our family continues to be blessed by the great friendship between our sons, Jack and Nelson. John's service was the first time I met Jack and the other young men that had come together and remain close to this day. It was the day...after meeting these guys...that I began worrying a lot less about my son. He had become someone who chose good friends. I only wish I could have know John better.

You showed me the sky - that there are no limits. I will always love you.

I do think about you often and seeing your face brings back the loss but also all the good times we had together. Miss you buddy. -Rob

I remember John well from our days in Mr. Fariello's art class at Sayre High School, but he is best remembered by me for his solid work as vocalist for the rock band Zasu Pitts. I hope there's a place in heaven where you and Charlie Garrison are jamming together again. If any family members read this, and are willing to part with it, I would love to acquire some of John's artwork. If possible, please call me at (717)783-9900.
Great obit, John. I only learned you were gone when I read your...

I am saddened to hear of John's passing. I met John at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I was impressed with him then and even more so now. My condolences to his family.

What a wonderful tribute this guest book is to a man who touched so many lives, even those who never met you. I regret not having been in touch over the years, but will always cherish the time we spent growing up in Sayre. What I remember most is your incredibly infectious sense of humor, but I see now that even that is surpassed by your courage. What wonderful traits to pass on to your children. My thoughts are with you and your family. God bless you John Lee, and keep'em laughing!

Dear Lathrop Family, so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew John from high school, ever commanding presence not just due to his giant height, but his giant personality. Truly one of a kind.

Frannie,
I was saddened to hear of your loss. You offered me kind words when I was hurting and I just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I'm another person that didn't know John but feel he must have been a very special person after reading his obituary. My sympathy to you and prayers that strength be granted to you as you deal with his loss.
