Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

John H Lazinsky passed on to his next home on Wednesday, June 15th, with his wife Deborah Horrocks by his side. He was a wonderful father, beloved grandfather and an amazing husband to his best friend of 43 years. John was a Veteran, an entrepreneur and a very caring man. He especially loved getting together with friends and family and enjoying laughs over a glass of wine and dinner.

John was proud of his 22 years of service to the US Navy (1965-1970) and US Coast Guard (1970-1988). John attained the rating of Senior Chief Quartermaster (E-8) and served the Coast Guard afloat and ashore in several demanding assignments. He was confident and competent providing professional and operational guidance to junior enlisted and officers alike. His love for the Coast Guard was always front and center never failing to wear a ball cap or a jersey expressing his pride in his Coast Guard service.

John and Deb’s careers, following his Military Service, took them to New Jersey, New York and Oklahoma. John worked for H&R Block as a District Manager in New Jersey. John and Deb then started “Incredible Edibles”, a fun food business, where their most serious product was a hot dog. In Oklahoma John earned his Broker’s license and owned Abacus Realty, liquidating real estate for HUD, Fannie Mae, The Veteran’s Administration and several major banks.

In retirement, being able to choose where to live, John and Deb found their Piece of Paradise, living on the water in Slidell, LA. There John enjoyed catching crabs, cooking on the Green Egg and watching the boats go by.

John leaves his wife Deb Horrocks and daughters Debra and Lisa Lazinsky, his two grandchildren Chloe and Rocco, sisters Diane Lazinsky and Cecelia (Sean) Lammers, niece Emma Lammers and dear cousins, Patricia Medford, Marianne (David) Craig, Mike (Evelyn) Walter, Danielle (Cliff) Donaldson, John (Jeanne Marie) Wentzel and his closest cousin, Al (Patricia) Walter who would travel to be right next to John, in good times and in bad. Moving place to place, not knowing a soul, John never met a stranger. He leaves a host of friends around the country and will be sorely missed.

Graveside Services with Military Honors, will be held at the Southeast La. Veterans Cemetery, 3888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, La., 70460, on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Not sure what to say?

John was a friend and Coworker while serving at the Coast Guard headquarters in Boston. He lived only a couple of mile from me in Kennebunk, Maine. We sometimes traveled together to Boston. I actually gave John my old Craftsman table saw, and he gave me an old propane cook stove. He also gave another friend of ours a goat, which our friend took home with him in his front seat. Great guy. Miss you bud.

He will be missed
