Not sure what to say?

John was a very nice man. It was a pleasure getting to know him. May you be blessed with comfort during this difficult time.

My heartfelt sympathies to Sharon and Elizabeth for your loss. Those of us during 1962-1966 at Eisenhower High School in Decatur,IL. were fortunate to have him as our music teacher, his first teaching position. He gave us support, guidance, and appreciation for life, along with a love for music and singing. He will be missed by so many people.

Sharon and Elizabeth,
I'm so sorry about your great loss! I will remember John's sense of humor and good attitude even while he was hurting. He must have learned that from his dad. His passing is especially sobering to me since we are the same age (I was born 3 days before him.) He has surely left this world a better place because he was here!

Thank you for sharing Mr Leman with us at EHS. Yes there was a time before he was a Doc & world famous, but he was just as famous to me then. He gave us the ability to learn about love & life through music. He coaxed the best we had to give out of us, never demanding but always encouraging. I am an RN not a musician but I use his techniques on a daily basis to show love to my staff, patients, & families. Please except my heartfelt sympathy as you celebrate his live.

One of the most enjoyable moments during a year as an exchange student at Eisenhower High School, class of '64, was John Leman's choir class. I had never sang in a choir before that and could not read music. Yet, John made it look and sound so simple that I was soon singing with the best of them. Today, when ever I hear music the first thing that comes to my mind is the friendly giant, my teacher, John Leman. My sincere condolences to his beloved family. May he rest in eternal peace.

My wife Kelly and I sang for John when he was the choral director at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church. He was truely gifted in his ability to communicate clearly with subtle movements to get the sound he wanted. We were amazed at his ability to get the "best" sound out us ... truely making us sound better than we were. We feel blessed to have known John and to learn from him.

John and I spent time together, when my parents Ray and Marie Martin visited grandparents Frank and Carrie Martin, who lived next door to Irvin and Leona Leman. May God bless the Leman family.

There was only one John. We loved him. My husband, Walt worked with him at Illinois Builders, where he was always ready for a good time. He was talented not only in music, but could ride his bike backward, scare his co-workers and just plain make us laugh. I was a neighbor and classmate of Rachel, so I saw this little boy grow up. We have wonderful memories of the Irvin Leman family. Your have our sympathy. John will be missed

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Leman family. We are thankful to have known Christine and Lynn for many years!
