Not sure what to say?

John Lewis was an extremely thoughtful, intelligent man who tried his best. Unfortunately, some of his judgments did great harm to children because of his own biases. However, he will be missed.

I agree with the sentiments written well before this. Today I received a request from a client to involve Judge Lewis in a post dissolution dispute. I informed her of his passing. And, then found his guest book. I greatly respected Judge Lewis and regret his passing. The world is, as previously written, lessened by his passing. My condolences to his family. Thank you Judge Lewise for all the help and insight on cases.

I knew John after I became a Circuit Judge and have fond memories of getting to know him after he retired. John was kind and respectful and loved his family. I was delighted to get to know Linda as she accompanied him to family law events and judicial conferences. John's love for his wife, children and grandchildren was so apparent as that was usually what we spoke about.
He will be missed.

Linda:
I am so deeply saddened by John's passing, that I can only imagine your immense grief.
Memories come flashing by...a smiling John & Linda, on a sunny day, strolling with their beautiful Molly in her baby carriage...John, as my attorney, rushing out into the middle of the night to come to my aid when my little boy was kidnapped...John & Linda teaching my (late) husband, Mike, and I to swing dance!
John, always a dear friend...& as anyone could see...the happiest husband,...

I was very saddened to hear of Judge Lewis's passing. A very warm and friendly man who treated everyone with respect. Rest In Peace, Sir - you will be missed by many.

I am sad to hear of Judge Lewis's passing. He was respectful and respected. Fair, intelligent, and kind. He will be missed.

It is indeed a sad day for the legal community; Judge Lewis was a powerful influence. I relied upon him as a gifted mediator, and his judicial philosophy has been re-told to me by many sitting judges, though I joined the bar shortly after he retired. My condolences to his family. I admired him greatly.

The world just seems a little less reasonable and considerate now that John is gone. My sincere condolences to his family.

Judge Lewis was one of the best. He was smart, kind and funny, and always a pleasure to appear before or mediate with; I will miss him, as will the Oregon legal community.
