To the Lewis family, my sincere condolences on the passing of John. I knew him when I was in charge of Student Services at SMU/UMass Dartmouth. John was an excellent employee and made many valuable contributions to the operation of the University. He was a gentleman and will be missed.

Marnie & Reagan, I am sorry for your families at losing someone so important to you. My husband, Rick (David E. Sewall) and I (Barbara Clingan Sewall) doubled date with John & Janice through high school. Janice and I were best friends from 6th grade. We walked to each other's houses, slept over, and enjoyed dinners together. The best was when we met 2 guys we fell in love with in the senior class. Janice & I were sophomores. Janice and I planned to grow old together and watch our families grow. I miss her tremendously- and now I will miss John. Our love to all of you. Rick & Barb Sewall

I had the pleasure of meeting John in The Villages 4 years ago and we became good friends during that time. He was a fine gentleman with high ideals and I will miss him terribly. He was a loyal and trusted friend. I am deeply saddened by his sudden death and will always keep him in my prayers. My sincerest condolences to his family. John will be greatly missed.

John demeanor on the golf course of the many years we played together was uplifting. I never met a person who gave me so much peacefulness and positiveness that John shared in a round of golf. I will miss our golf adventure and know that his spirit will keep me in the game.

To The Family: John was a kind and decent man. He spoke well of nearly everyone he knew. Dee and I will miss his yearly visit to see the Baltimore Orioles Spring Training games in Sarasota. His love of family, golf and baseball will be dearly remembered. With deepest sympathies, Richard and Dee Waring

Marnie & Raegan,
please accept my sincere condolences at this time of grief. I do believe that John is at peace with your brother and your mother who he often spoke of with great pride. They must have needed a good referee up there to settle things up in just the right way.
I hope you can find ways to accept God's will and remember your Dad as I always will, a truly honest, giving soul with admirable humility.
May God rest his soul in peace.

My sympathy to the family. I first knew John as Coach Lewis, since he was my first baseball coach in junior league. With him at the helm, we won the championship our first year with the Cincinnati Reds. I went on to have a great friendship with David and was always welcomed with open arms by the whole family growing up. Thanks for the great memories.
