To the Loring family, My sincere condolences. I knew John through pipe collecting and always looked forward to seeing him at the Chicago pipe shows. He was a mensch.

John will be deeply missed by all the members of the pipe collecting fraternity. His vast knowledge, which he readily shared, was a great gift to all of us. The hobby will not be quite the same without him.

Dear Liz, Katherine & Michael,

Words alone will never express my sorrow. John was a Prince and a very dear friend.

His huge smile, wise counsel and "why not" will be with all of us each and every day. Although at rest now, know that he's watching over each of you. Whether as a twinkle or a smile, he walks with each of us continuously and he always shall.
