Not sure what to say?

I knew John through my friendship with his daughter, Starr, who my family adored and who died much too young. John was kind, welcoming and for all his accomplishments, the most unpretentious man I ever met. I have many fond memories of my days spent with your family in New Cumberland and of Starr's weekends with my family in Williamstown. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the family of John Macfarlane:
I had the honor and priviledge of meeting Mr. Macfarlane while working at Bethany. There was a wealth of knowledge stored in his mind and he so often shared it with the staff. John will be missed very much, he always had a smile and a kind word-he could lift your spirits when you felt down.
My deepest sympathy to all.

Our family and friends will miss him, his laughter, his sense of humor, and his common sense. We greatly admired his zest for life and independence. May he fly free!

To The McFarland Family: Red was a friend and a great person, I got to know him when I was the Press
Secretary for PennDot in Gov. Shapp's administration, and we went to all the Highway openings, with Sec. of Transportation and the Governor, it was great knowing him, and I glad he had such a long life. Sincerly Dan McFadden

We are so sorry for your loss (I am the son of Clifford Macfarlane, John's brother).
