My heartfelt condolences to John's family. Dr. Maguire was my Intro Chem prof in 1967. I still chuckle recalling his demonstration during the first couple of days of the semester using a bell jar and a wad-up latex glove where the glove's index finger popped out first, much to his " astonishment".
