JOHN DREW MALLETT was born August 15, 1950 in Houston, Texas. He was the first of 13 children born to the late John and Ethel mallett, in addition to his parents, his brothers Eugene, Anthony, and Reginald also preceded him in death. (He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School and attended Texas A & I University in Kingsville, TX.) During his lifetime he was employed by Olshan Lumber Company, Dow Chemical Company, Champion Paper Company and was self employed for the last several years with Cheetah Transportation. John passed away on Monday, June 23, (after a short battle with cancer.) He is survived by his wife, Linda Kay, one daughter, three stepchildren, 3 sisters, 6 brothers, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Wake: Friday, June 27, 2003, 6-9pm. Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 10am. Both services at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, 4000 Sumpter, Houston, Texas. Interment Harrell's Cemetery, Stephen's Creek, Texas.

I knew John as, "John Drew Mallet" and it seems like yesterday we were all learning and playing at Our Mother of Mercy School. I had only two opportunity since then to see John; but it was just as if we had never missed a day. He was still the same John Drew Mallet. It's difficult to understand God's reasoning when you lose a love one; and for me, when you lose a classmate. It's like losing one's self. To his wife and family, my deepest sympathy and prayers.
