Not sure what to say?

I'm a little late but just heard about John's passing today. John and Marcy were both such wonderful people. I worked for them while I was a student at Lewis & Clark College. I thought of them as my Portland family (since mine are out of state), as they really treated me like family. John and Marcy were an inspiration to me. Over the years, I have constantly referred to them and so many of the things I learned from spending time with them. The three of us would often have lunch, which always...

John was at the Medical School in the Psychiatry Dept. with my husband in the late 60's and early to mid-70's. My husband died in 1977 and John was very helpful to me at that time. Prior to that, we were at the dedication of Anne's bench in the gorge.

John was simply "the greatest".

It was a joy to work with John in the cafe during my time at SOR. His dedication amazed me, especially when he continued to work after his heart surgery. I always saw him with a smile on his face.

I shall miss John's wise essays in the
St. Stephen's Sentinel. He wrote every month and faithfully.

John was a long-time and beloved volunteer at Sisters Of The Road and we will miss his amazing smile and loving personality. John worked not only in the Cafe, but greatly helped us with our ground breaking research project on the experiences of homelessness by taking part in many 1 to 1 interviews of 2-3 hours each with our community. I always loved seeing John at an event or in the Cafe and he was always a bright ray of sunshine. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.
