I was in Mr. Marten's first class at The Chapel of the Redeemer. It was a third grade class and then I had him for the next three years up to the 7th grade. In the 5th grade he started a girls basketball team and that began my love of the sport. I later became a teacher and got the opportunity to coach girls high school basketball. As the principal of a neighboring Lutheran school, John´s smiling face and sense of humor brought joy to me and all his colleagues. . My condolences for your loss but know that John´s love of the Lord and his joyful smile will now be shared with loved ones in heaven.
