I am deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Mathews passing. I have been trying to find him for a few years now to thank him for his teaching, friendship and life experiences. I had the pleasure to go scuba diving with him in the Bahamas over a spring break while at Wyoming High School, and always have had great memories of that trip and talk about it often. I still dive today thanks to him giving me that opportunity. I look forward to seeing him when I get called home and we can scuba again. Rest...

John was my cousin and I will miss his smile, his sense of humor, and his kindness. He loved his family and was truly a Christian man. May God bless Linda in the days to come.

Mr. Mathews was an amazing teacher, and a very kind person. His teaching still impacts my life today, 30 some odd years later. My thoughts are with his family today as they say goodbye.

My deepest condolences to his family. Mr. Mathews was a kind man and one of my favorite teachers. In fact, it is partly because of him that I became a high school biology teacher myself. He made quite an impact on my life and he will be greatly missed.
