So sorry for your loss. I worked at SPRL and marveled at his office with all the great computers, etc! You could tell he loved his job and that he was a very smart man.

John was a wonderful friend and neighbor for many years. Smart engineer and always helpful and generous with his knowledge and time. He will not be forgotten. Deep condolences to Sue and family.

What a guy! There will never be another like him. When I think of my town, Whitmore Lake, I think of our lake. And then I think of John, so instrumental to all that has gone on there for decades. Filming waterski shows from his tower pontoon boat, leading and announcing the annual Lighted Boat Parade on the 4th of July, cooking out on his pontoon boat (burgers always well done, had to grab mine fast before he cooked it down to nothing), always in the know and involved in everything, and...

I worked in the same office at SPRL with John for many years. Several years after my retirement I had a surprise meeting again with John at a local restaurant near Greenville when Susan and John were visiting one of her friends from high school. John was an outstanding design engineer, very focused on accuracy and detail required in aerospace designs.

John was a mentor to my father, Mark Huetteman, who assisted with Cassini and the Mars Rover. I would see him at SPRL often--my Dad took me into the lab a lot. I'd make friendship bracelets from leftover space cables John gave me! As I was a young Girl Scout. He flew me over Whitmore Lake when I was 4 years old! In his later years, I delivered his mail and we met again. He was so friendly when we reacquainted. He flew my Nana over Base Line Lake, where she resided. John is finally watching...

Sue and family. I so sorry for your loss. I have many memories of John. Once he was flying his float plan and landed on Baldwin Lake, which isn't a large lake. He was always busy with projects. John was a great guy and would help anyone. He will be missed. Sending prayers for comfort and peace.
