Geisen-Carlisle Funeral & Cremation Services Obituary

John Mayfield, age 69, of Chesterton, IN, passed away quietly on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at his home and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

He was born December 18, 1948 to Ray and Ellen (Miller) Mayfield who preceded him in death.

John is survived by his children:  Jimmy (Leah) Mayfield, John “Nick” Mayfield and Jennifer Lenz; grandchildren:  Evan, Johnny, Jaclynn, Justine, Joey and Stephanie; brother:  Carl Mayfield; sister:  Donna Williams and several nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by brother:  Ray Mayfield and sister:  Julie Fleck.

John was a lover of the beach and anything that had to do with the outdoors; biking, hiking, or boating.  He was an expert woodworker and built many pieces for family and friends as a hobby.  John always had a contagious good vibe and all who knew him appreciated his honesty and good sense of humor.  Although fighting Alzheimers in his last couple of years, John never failed to say how lucky he felt and how happy he was with the life he lived and the path he had taken.
