Not sure what to say?

I just now (October, 2025) found out about Mr. Macateer's passing some years ago. Yet, I wanted to extend my belated condolences to all those who knew him. He was a great gym teacher of mine between 1988 and 1990 at Larsen Middle School in Elgin, IL. He was a great mentor, coach and influential teacher who pushed us beyond what we thought our limits were and made an impression upon me that endured well beyond my time as one of his students and he, along with his amicable personality, will be...

For some reason I was thinking about Mac today. He and my husband Jesse were very good friends who golfed and hung out together. I lost him in 1995 it was shortly after that I saw Mac for the last time. I am so saddened to find this out. Hope Mac and my Jesse are having a good time up in heaven golfing together. My sincere condolences to Macs family

Mr. Mac was one of my favorite teachers and coaches! I was lucky to have him for both when I was a student at Eastview. Under hi leadership we were U-46 8th grade football champs. He was a great man he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the McAteer family and friends.

Mac & I coached and taught together at Eastview for many years. My favorite time coaching with him was when 5 of us split 1 coaching check, each of us making about $25....We loved every minute of it. We coached for the love of the sport and our athletes. You will be missed, Mac. Finally, a note to Mac's family. That sense of humor, deep coaching voice, and friendly smile, made Mac's friendship something to be proud of.

RIP Mac, Lots of great memories, you will be missed

It is with much sympathy that I write "Mac's" family this note. John and I both taught at Eastview at the same time. John taught Science, I taught Art. I really missed our friendship when Eastview closed. Losing Mac at 65 is really tough. My Mother died of Leukemia at 66. I also lost a 4 year old brother with Leukemia. Neither time was easy. You have my sympathy. I encourage you to give this event time - and be kind to yourselves in the mean time.

Great friend... will surely be missed by many.
