Not sure what to say?

Dear Carla, Please know that your daughter Carla and I are good friends and I sympathsize with you, Beckie and all during this time. How wonderful to have a large and very wonderful family that thought about him and loved him so much. What a loving tribute and memorial the Military funeral was and the poetry from your grandddaughter and the life read by Carla. I am so glad I got to meet this special man. Joan

Carla,Becky, and family. I am sad to hear about John and his passing. I will truly miss him. Your family always took care of me when I lived there. I loved the studio apt that I rented. If you need anything please do not hesitate to call me.

John made me feel welcome at my work for Social Services. He always helped & shared his knowledge freely. When he retired we missed him, but the thought that he is enjoying himself with his family make us happy! John - please rest in peace!

Dear Carla and family,

I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I loved the Ol' Sarge dearly and deeply regret that I hadn't called him more since I left San Diego. I'll take that remorse to my own grave. John was a most memorable character. He made work so much fun! I frequently went home with my sides and face hurting from laughing so hard. He was a nut, a wonderful story-teller and the BEST kind of friend. I will never forget him and will miss him dearly. ...

John was a wonderful man, I enjoyed so much working with him at Mission Valley Social Services, he had a great humor.
God Bless all of you.

Carla & Becky & family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. You two were so supportive when my father passed. The greatest comfort I have now is the memory of a loving father and one who was brave and served his country during WW II. These men were a part of a very special generation and I have always been proud and found comfort when remembering "their contributions, courage and sacrifice."
Take care,
Maureen

I will miss seeing my neighbor. John is a great example of courage and quiet dignity. He served his country very well.

My sympathies to the McCann family. The world has lost a wonderful man. John was my mentor many years ago when we worked for the Dept. of Social Services. He was so caring and taught all of us a lot.

I remember John from our youth in Old Town and later when he returned from P.O.W.camp.
I'm very sorry to learn of his passing and for your family's loss.
