Not sure what to say?

Dear Aunt Peggy, Uncle John, Tim, Kevin, Delaney and Jake,

I was so sad to hear about Johnny. Know that Mary Beth is giving him loads of hugs and serenading him on her guitar. He was a very loving son, brother, grandson, father, cousin and friend. I have so many wonderful memories of the Holzwarth-McDonough-Dillon family holidays. We were so lucky to have Nene and PopPop make everything so special for all of us. John's family was everything to him and there was alot of love that...

John was one of my favorite directors and a fantastic human being. I will miss him.

Dad..
I don't know what to say other than I miss you more everyday. You are and always will be my very best friend. I miss your calls every hour on the hour just to say hi. Delaney and I think about you everyday but we know your in a much better and safer place. So go have fun...play golf with out your giant back brace on..eat as many cupcakes and crumbcakes as you want. We will always..no matter what...love and think about you everyday.
Your best friend and son...
Jake

I too was shocked to hear of John's passing. Over the years I had the pleasure of working with John on several ESPN college football events. I can remember the first time I worked with John very vividly. At the time, I was fairly new to my position and like so many other people have written here, John made no judgements and did everything he could to make me feel comfortable. He was always interested in hearing about a person's life at home and their interests and that was one of the things...

John will be missed by all who worked with him at Espn. I did several football games with John in the mid-90's. He was always complimentary to his crew and never dissed a one!! Our prayers and thoughts are with his family....

John was one of a kind. I hadn't seen John for at least a year and I was Shocked to hear that he was gone. I have so many great memmories of working with him. Listening to his stories at lunch and at the camera meeting were always entertaining. I am at a loss for words, he will truely be missed.

Few of us in TV have seen John quite the way I have....in his speedo in the pool. He was religious about three things: his daily swims, diet coke and his kids. We have spent so many days laughing together. This comes as a such a shock. I have so many great memories of him. He was kind enough to take me swimming with him sometimes on the road. He was the only guy on our football crew I could talk about swimming results with. John, I can't believe you are gone. You were such a big part of...

John most definitely had a joie de vivre. I met John in the late eighties when I was first getting into this business. Within an hour he was buying me lunch at a pizza joint and instead of grilling me about my limited TV experience, he was asking about me. He dug the fact that I was Jersey born and raised, and I grew to love his fierce loyalty to his upbringing and his "guys". John helped me love my profession.
I would only see him every few years and it was always something to look...

I met John in Mexico where he was directing us in an NCAA golf championship. He hung out with the crew every day after wrap.
His favorite place was the pool. He'd swim laps and then chill out and regale us with stories. John would then listen to all of ours...a rare occurrence for most Directors indeed. His best characteristic was his absolute candor. I got to know John more in that week than I've gotten to know other Directors over entire seasons. I only worked with John a few...
