Not sure what to say?

Dear Eileen,

Although we have only met once I do feel I need to sent you this e-mail. Hereby my sincere condolences. I was shocked to find out John was no longer among us.
I know John from his time in The Netherlands, I managed the hotel he stayed in, Des Pays Bas in Utrecht.
After that time we have had phone and e-mail contact. I have visited you at your home once, it must have been about 1990 I think.
I met your kids and we had dinner and John showed me his room...

Thank you for your important contributions to FOSS development, John

I didn't know and never met John but I am a user of the Fedora Linux project and very grateful for his immense contribution to the project. Rest in peace John.

John always had a smile and a kind word. I will miss him at the State Emergency Operations Center.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. Today I'm remembering the fun times I had with John and Eileen from years ago while we were all fresh in the world of amateur radio. Larry and I had the benefit of his knowledge and friendship. Condolences to his family. WB8UOO

Very sad to hear this. I enjoyed working with him for quite a while on several projects, amongst one he had to stay in Utrecht in the Netherlands for a while. I will remember him as very knowledgeable and his special kind of humor.

John was a remarkable person and I really enjoyed working with him, many many years ago. Smart, energetic, friendly. So sad to hear of his passing, and my sincere condolences to the family.
