To the McDowell family,
I am sorry to read of John's passing. If ever there was a "Southern Gentleman", it was John. I'm sure everyone that worked with John at State Farm felt a connection with your family because of the stories and news he would share with great enthusiam. He was an eloquent conversationalist and historian and I miss the coffee room verbiage as we challenged each other's opinions. John's legacy will live on because of his fine qualities and willingness to share...

To the McDowell Family, I wish to extend my heartfelt symphathy to all of you but especially to Ms.Emily in this time of sorrow. You and Mr. McDowell's casual friendship has and will always mean a lot to me. Family and Love means a lot , and I know at this time you all will hold on to God's hands to see you through this . Precious Memories,

To Emily, John, Claiborne and Charley and the rest of your family,
I just learned of John's passing and I was saddened like so many others, but the knowledge that he touched so many lives, including my own, brought me joy.

My career today is owed to this gentleman who took pity on a young woman in need of a job so many years ago. He was my mentor, my friend and a surrogate father to me. I will always remember him with fondness...
