I had the honor of meeting Mr. McFate's wife, Deb, and her family at the clinic where I work in Redding. They are a wonderful family, strong and take good care of one another. My heart goes out to this family, I cannot imagine such a sudden loss. McFate family, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, keep taking care of one another during this time.

I am truly sorry about John's passing. He used to buy hay from us when we ranched on Rawson road. Deb I know we have spoken a few times on the phone. I lost my husband last April a few weeks shy of his 63rd birthday without any warning at all. My condolences to your family. John was such a great man whom Bob and I truly enjoyed talking with. His love of his family as well as his dogs was worn on his shirt sleeve. Pat Rathke, Red Bluff

Deb, Kel, Heath: John was the best dad, and very warm hearted to everyone. He'd help anyone in need...I'm here for you if you Need.
I remember coming to Redding one time as a teenager with John in his old blue ranchero. It was hotter than acceptable and to keep my mind off of the hotttttt. John started singing cowboy songs. It definately got my mind off of the heat....As you can well imagine.
I will truly miss him. Libby
