Whitey, I am so blessed to have been a friend and teammate. You are missed! Gerald #27 Steve Hiorns Holy Cross 1980

Erin,
I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Your father will always be with you. I hope that loving memories will sustain you through this time of sadness. Peace to you and your family.

Patti, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your incredible brother. I am sending you hugs and prays. ❤

I knew Jack from his Emerson days, Assumption School and Bergen Catholic, his wife Anne too. I was so sad to hear of his passing. My deepest condolences to Anne their children and entire McGovern family. I more recently had seen Jack at BC football games and wrestling matches, in his role as AD. Jack would always be walking around enjoying the events and talking with everyone. You could just tell he really enjoyed people and was proud of what he helped build while at Bergen. A true...

My Sincerest Condolences to the entire McGovern Family. Many prayers to follow to strengthen you in this time of loss.

He was the classic Catholic man in every regard. He set an standard of character for all to emulate. When I read about Bergen Catholic in the USA TODAY I knew it was due to the efforts and dedication of Jack. I was proud to have known him as a friend. May God rest his soul.

To Whitey's wife, children, and entire family,
I had the privilege of meeting Jack in 1976 while being recruited at Holy Cross along with his life long pal Anthony "Tony" "Rock" Rocchio. 40 plus years of GREAT memories, 4 of which were on the football field, ALL of which will ALWAYS be cherished and NEVER forgotten.
My sincerest and deepest condolences to Anne, his children. and his entire extended family. He will be sorely missed and I for one will never forget the impact he had on me...

A great golfer, a great guy and an even greater man with a great sense of humor. My condolences to the entire McGovern (extended) family. Rest In Peace Jack.
