McGREGOR, JR., John John William "Jack" McGregor, JR. age 64, of Charleston, the husband of Kathye Chandler McGregor died Saturday, March 11, 2006. The family will be receiving visitors at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy., this evening, March 12, 2006 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St Thomas the Apostle, Catholic Church on Dorchester Rd. on Monday, March 13, 2006 at 10:00AM. The Rite of Committal will be held privately. Jack was born January 16, 1943 in Charleston, SC, he is the eldest of 4 children to the late John W. McGregor Sr. and Faye L. McGregor of Savannah House. A graduate of Bishop England High, Jack attended Clemson University and achieved his BSCS while in US Army. Jack joined the Army as a private in 1964 and served with distinction for twenty one years through the Vietnam and Cold war era, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer Four (the highest warrant officer rank). His service included two combat tours in Vietnam and six other overseas tours. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal and several Meritorious Service Medals. Upon retirement from the military CW4 Jack McGregor continued to serve as a defense contractor for Martin Marietta and ManTech Company retiring to Charleston S.C. in 2001. He is survived by his loving wife Kathye C. McGregor; son, John Scott McGregor and his wife Silke and grand daughter Charlotte Elliott; sons, Thomas Glenn, Michael Todd and Phillips Sean McGregor of Texas. Surviving also is a sister Annette McGregor Merrill and two brothers, Ronald Patrick and Michael McGregor. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to William G Schmidt Jr. MD for Cancer Research, and mailed to Southcoast Community Bank, 802 Savannah Hwy Charleston SC 29407 in care of Coreen Kendall. Kathye, Although I did not know Jack, I enjoyed knowing you and playing golf for the short time we both lived in Berry Creek. I am so sorry for your loss.
