Having just now received a reminder notice to continue remembering and honoring John, my thought is that John will not be forgotten...his focus, dedication, and accomplishments were unequalled. And John was always very gracious and kind to me, while I assisted him both with the ww2 book club and with his own book authorship. Working with John set examples of careful and deep research. And he was very generous with his knowledge. John was always a gentleman, and appreciative of any help. ...

Dear family, this is just a short additional note to my previous entry, to let you know that I am thinking of you, at this special time of year. I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a truly great man and a incredibly gifted person. He will always be in our hearts and beloved by me and my family.

Dear Mary Jean and family, I am truly sorry that John is now not with us all. I was shocked, stunned and extremely saddened when I was told about John's passing while I was attending a conference in Kansas City.
