I was greatly honored to meet Fr. John McVean many years ago at St. Francis of Assisi Church in New York City. I discussed with him his work to build permanent housing with supports for the disadvantaged and mentally ill. Now, in 2025, other dedicated people are trying to initiate similar housing for immigrant people in Toronto. I hope that inspiration from the life of Fr. McVean and his Franciscan colleagues will help them achieve their goals. May he rest in peace in paradise.
