Sanders Funeral Service - Kingfisher Obituary

John E. Mercer, 52, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2023, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma. He was born May 6, 1971, to Joseph and Janie Mercer in Kingfisher, OK where he attended Kingfisher Public Schools through the fourth grade, and then relocated to Dover with his family where he graduated from Dover High School in 1989. He furthered his education through classes at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. John was a skilled electrician/lineman for many years, and then transitioned to the oilfield industry where he was most recently employed with MACH Resources as a Lease Operator. When not working, he truly loved spending time with his significant other of 10 years, Amy Gray, his family and many friends. His hobbies included RZR riding, dove hunting, cornhole, and golf. He will be most remembered for his infectious grin, contagious laugh, and huge heart. A friend to everyone, John never met a stranger. He would literally do anything for anybody.

John is survived by his significant other, Amy Gray and her daughters, Haley and Josie Kretchmar all of Purcell; his parents, Joe and Janie Mercer; two brothers, Matt (Erica) and Jay (Robyn) Mercer all of Kingfisher; and one sister, Ginni (Ken) Scott of Frisco, TX. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews who include: Tanner (Autumn) Mercer, Kaleb Mercer, Erika Mercer, Hartley Mercer, Case Mercer, William Mercer, Breahnna Hux, Danica Hux, and Coby Mercer all of Kingfisher; Elizabeth Scott of Frisco, Texas; and 2 great nephews, Bowen and Weston Mercer also of Kingfisher.

Celebration of Life for John will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Exhibit Building in Kingfisher with burial following at Kingfisher Cemetery.
