Not sure what to say?

Dear Nancy. Please accept my sympathy and condolences.I was a student of Dr, Merriam at the American Univeristy in Cairo. He was kind to students. Owing to a poster he placed at AUC, I applied to BGSU and got my Master's degree from this Univeristy. .....Nazem Abdalla (NY, NY)

I had two classes with Dr. Merriam. I will always remember the reception at his home he asked me to attend my freshman year. He introduced me to some State Department dignitary. He had a great impact on me and my ultimate desire to become a Social Studies teacher. His knowledge and wisdom will be missed. He truly was a great gentleman.

Dear Nancy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and John with his death.
We had such great time with you both. We enjoyed the stimulating conversation with John aobut the world at large.
We are sorry for your loss of John.
Warm Regards
Linda and Alex Bueno

Nancy, please accept my deepest sympathy. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I always enjoyed listening to John's comments on world affairs. I recall once, in church, when we read the lessons "in tongues" and he read it in English but verbilized it in French. What a fantastic person he was.

I worked in the Political Science Department when I was a student at BGSU (1988-1991). He always was a nice man. I'm sorry for your loss.

Dear Namcy,
My condolences to you and your family. You in my thoughs and prayers.

In 1978 I took my first college class --- Political Science 101 --- with Dr. Merriam. His gift for understanding the Middle East was evident even to an 18 year old. After graduation, and starting life as a journalist, I found myself using Dr. Merriam as a resource on stories. He will be missed. You are in my thoughts and prayers. --- Matt Zaleski, BGSU '82, former Assignment Editor WNWO NBC24

My heartfelt and deepest sympathies to you Nancy and to all of John's family. He was a cherished member of our St. Mark's community and his presence will be missed.

Our family sends deepest condolences to your family. Cousin John was a lovely, caring man.
