Not sure what to say?

Aunt Harriet we feel so fortunate to have had Uncle Jack as part of our lives. We shared many good times and have a lot of memories. Everyone should have an Uncle Jack in their life. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Harriet,

We send our condolences to you and to your family with John's passing. John still had his great sense of humor and twinkling in his eyes when we saw him in August(I am so glad that I had the opportunity to visit with him).
I will always have fond memories of our trip to Europe with John being cramped in the small rental car! John was a good friend, great neighbor, and wonderful educator.

Dear Mrs. Mertz,
Mr. Mertz was a kind and thoughtful mentor to me when I was a young teacher at Coral Gables High. My deepest sympathy to you,
Marybelle Proctor Menzel, MHS '58

Dear Mrs. Mertz,
I had your husband in a T.V.
history class at Coral Gables Sr. Hi
in the '60's in the auditorium. He
was wonderfully knowledgeable and
also had a good sense of humor, which you need when your class is
so large! It was the CGHS heyday and
we were state champs and star
quarterback Larry Rentz
was in our class. I did not mind
the large class because your
husband made it interesting, unlike
the teacher actually on the T.V.
Sincere...

Sending my condolences to Mrs. Mertz. I worked with Mr. Mertz at S. Miami Jr. High School in the administrative offices and have have fond memories of him. Both of us were born in PA and always had nice conversations about PA.

John has always been a mentor and father figure to me. We have always admired his many accomplishments. John has left this earth but will always be in our hearts. Gay & Ken Kielbania

Mrs. Mertz,
Please accept my condolences for your loss. I only met your husband a couple of times while I was interning in 1964 at South Miami Junior High under your guidance. You were an inspiration to me. Please accept my sympathy.
Fondly,
John Robson

To the Mertz family,

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Mertz. He was my history/georgraphy teacher during my Junior/Senior years. He was a wonderful teacher and a kind and compassion human being. He made history interesting and fun, and to this day, I still love history due to his influence.

May he rest in peace. My condolences.

Sincerely,

Diane Benson
