Not sure what to say?

It saddens me to see one of the greatest professors in my educational career pass. He had a passion for teaching, and always made a direct effort to make every class entertaining and informative. You will be missed not only by your family, but by the lives of the students and colleagues that you have touched over the years. There will be no professor that could ever replace you. You will be missed, and the classroom will never be the same.

Our condolences go out to the Metzger family. We were saddened to learn of John's death. He was a great neighbor and friend. We will miss his booming voice, infectious laugh and great sense of humor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

On behalf of Dr. John's colleagues on the Space Nuclear Thermal Propulsion Program at Northrop Grumman, we are deeply saddened and shocked to hear of his passing. He was a very valued member of our small team. His friendly and sometimes humorous personality provided us with many good times. To all of his children, we followed your upbringing as John shared stories of your activities. He was very proud of you all. We offer our deepest sympathy to you. We will miss you John.

I was very sad to hear of John's passing. I had the pleasure to meet John and take one of his courses at Bettis Laboratory. He was an excellent instructor as well as being a great deal of fun to talk with. My sincere condolences to his family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I took several of John's nuclear engineering courses in grad school. He was an excellent professor and I always enjoyed attending his classes. Not only was he very knowledgable about nuclear engineering topics, but he also shared a wealth of practical experiences and other stories each week. It is truly an honor to have studied under John. Deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace, sir!
