Mr. John Wesley Mew, Jr, age 72 of Fairmont, NC passed away Friday, August 4, 2017.



Mr. Mew was born March 20, 1945 in Robeson County to the late John Wesley Mew Sr. and Janie Hester Mew.



In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Carol Mew; four sisters, Norma White, Clydie Cain, Alice Musselwhite and Vergie Mae Carter.



He is survived by his wife, Carolyne B. Mew of the home; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Thomas Monroe Bird of Indianapolis, IN.; two sister-in-law’s, Jo Bird Conway (Donald) of Monroe, NC and Marion Hester of Greensboro, NC, and many special cousins.



Mr. Mew was a member of the Fairmont Masonic Lodge, past Master Mason, Fairmont Shriner’s Club, past Principal at Fairmont High School, Greene County High School, and Headmaster at Avalon Academy in Dillon, SC.



A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 3:00pm at Floyd Funeral Services Chapel in Fairmont with Rev. Ronald Hughes officiating.



Visitation will be following the service at the funeral home.



Memorial may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital 950 W. Farris Rd. Greenville, SC, 29605 and Lower Cape Fear Hospice 1406 Physicians Dr. Wilmington, NC 28401

So sorry to here about Mr. Mew, just wanted to give you my belated condolences. You and your husband were probably two of the people I respected the most in the Greene County School System.

So sorry for your loss. I remember him fondly from when I was an Exchange Student at Greene Central High School in 1990-1991

Carolyne, We were so sorry to learn of John and Jennifer's death. I will never forget all the August 28th Birthdays Christopher, Jennifer and Velma Speight shared together. He will be 41 this year and is doing great Thank God! You and John were wonderful parents! May God wrap his loving arms around you and give you peace. Debbie Fields Murphy and family.

Carolyne, I thought so much of you and John when we worked together. I missed John's sweet smile and good nature after you all left, especially when we were in offices together in the "back building" Our prayers are with you.

Caroline I was saddened to hear of John's passing. I will have you in my thoughts and prayers in the coming days. John was my classmate and I always thought of him as very good person.
