I have thought of my Uncle John frequently over the past 8 months as he was a key link between the West and East Coast contingents for our family that has now passed. We will miss him dearly. I just learned from Dick Cavanagh, a good friend of John's, that John had passed away and that there will be a memorial service for him at Harvard this Friday. I plan to attend because I considered John to be a great man, as well as a great economist. John once asked me to speak to his class at the K School when I was Fellow there. Dear Leslie, Ann and Bob,
I did write a note when Leslie called but would like to make a few more comments. We are still stunned by his passing. I considered John my best friend. We enlisted in the Navy the same day, went to the same Navy schools and served on the same ship. Post Navy we shared a house boat on Lake Union when we started at the University of Washington.
