Not sure what to say?

Jack, after all these years you are still an inspiration. See you on the other side.

Although the years have passed and we miss Jack more, he is never far away. His legacy continues to guide NWPVA to be the best we can be and honor selfless service to others as our calling. He built a foundation of integrity that we continue to nurture and ask ourselves, "What would Jack do?" He lit a fire in all he met to leave the world a better place and his memory feeds the flame. He may be physically gone from this world, but his spirit still lives in the hearts of those who knew and...

For many years my grandma (Jack's sister, Peggy) would take us to the Veteran's Day parade to see Jack. I can remember being a little kid sitting on the sidewalk and just feeling so proud to know him. I still feel proud! We'll miss you, Uncle Apple Jack!

Jack was a great friend to all who knew him. He was a joy to work with at Camp Parsons. He had a wonderful talent for understatement like the time he called from the old Kidwell place on the Dose one afternoon while I was acting Camp Director. The engine block and one wheel were where the front seat should have been....

Welcome home.

Captain "Black Jack" Michaels changed the world with everyone he touched. He was a friend, my boss, a mentor, and a big brother. He made the world a better place to be. He will be terribly missed, but never forgotten nor ever replaced.

When you talked with Jack, you felt really, really listened to. You felt you had his complete attention--more than anyone else I've ever met. His smile could put peace in anyone's heart. He truly made the world a better place.

My sympathy goes to the family and friends of John Michaels. Remember that there will be a time when all suffering is soon to end.

In 1965 when Jack and Lee Bassett led hikes from Camp Parsons, they would stay in my cabin with Dave Dalrymple over the weekend prior to leading their next hike into the Olympics. They would wash clothes, get a clean shower and have a great meal before heading out with another group of scouts on Sunday. We also visited with them and came to enjoy Jack's even disposition and great sense of humor. When Pam I got married in 1966, both Jack and Lee came to our wedding in Aberdeen. That meant...

Jack was a good man and will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers ae wih him. Joe Romagnano, PVA membeer
