Not sure what to say?

Dear Mikkalson Family, I used to cut through your backyard to my various teenage destinations. Once I wrang my neck on your clothes line running from someone. Someone(John, Dad) actually built a little cement bridge of sorts to keep us out of the little garden that I think was largely maintained by Mr. Mikkalson. If we all had shared gardens with our neighbors the world would be a better place. I am sad for your loss of your beloved Dad. Love mindy

Dear Bev, Genell, Pam, Joel and Laura,

I feel so close to all of you right now as I say goodbye to John. His huge grin and love of the neighborhood gang will always bring a smile to my face. (Remembering John sprinting after Joel is pretty fun too.) The day the O'Leary's moved into Mikkalson's backyard was one of the best days of my life.

Wishing your family much love and peace,

Therese O'Leary Miller

We are so sorry to hear of John's death. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. What a wonderful man! We will never forget his kindness to our family. With love and sympathy,

Old friends and neighbors,
I am sad and overwhelmed with happy memories of Bev, John, Genell, Pam, Joel and baby Laura in Mason City. It was unusual for a young girl to have a grown-up pal like John, but man did we have fun; water fights, games of horse and pig with Joel and John, Bratwurst (who knew?) tents in the backyard and endless laughs. We must find a way to all get together soon and remember .... I hope there are super soakers in heaven-
Love you John and family

To my dear Friends,
Learned of John's passing from Dad. So many, many happy memories of him. Sitting in that easy chair in the corner reading or watching TV, helping him remodel your basement, always ready with a welcoming smile and a kind word, playing basketball, talking smack with Bridget playing horse. Just want you to know how much I loved John and all of you. I wish I were with you.

Love, Molly

Bev and Family , Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Bev and Family
Our heartfelt prayers go out to you and your family. It was our pleasure to have John as a friend.

Dear Bev and Family-
My sympathy, love and prayers are with you in this time of losing the strength and joy of John's earthly presence. I was just thinking of you in this month of August. More later-

Bev, Laura and family,

I am so sorry to hear about John's passing. My West State Street childhood is filled with memories of the Mikkalsons down the street, making sure we didn't get into too much trouble. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this very sad time.
