John Minderhout

We will always remember the great times we had with John and Tui. I miss the times when we were sitting together for a glass of wine chatting about current events.

I have fond memories of John at DFA gatherings and neighborhood canvasing together in Ann Arbor. He was always helpful, kind and understanding of others. We miss you, John.

John and I were roommates at Oakland University in 1973-4. He generously welcomed me into his life and family. Except for a brief visit in Ann Arbor in the late 70's (we saw "Purple Rain!), we had not been in contact for decades until he reached out in February to ask for a referral for law school, which I was pleased to perform. I hadn't heard back from him since April, and finally found out today (7/28) the reason why.

I met John and Tui when they moved next door to Tommy and me in St. Michaels, Maryland. We instantly became good friends. John was one of the warmest, most caring, and most compassionate human beings we have ever known. There truly are not enough positive words to describe him. He had a wonderful outlook on life, and we never saw him lose his temper or hear him say an unkind thing about anyone or anything. He was always willing to lend a hand. I'll never forget the time we had five stray...

We were only beginning to get to know John and Tui, but like so many of his family member and friends, we shared profound discussions, good times and some good wine with them. We, too, will miss him.
