John Joseph Mitchell

john was a gentleman, loved to talk to interesting people and had a laugh that would ring in your ears long after he'd moved on to something else. he was kind, gentle, understanding, and endlessly wise.
but he was nobody's fool. he was a sharp cookie, a good friend and i will miss him a lot.,

I worked with John for about 15 years at the Thousand Oaks News Chronicle and then the Ventura County Star. He was such a kind man and a great interviewer. He was always so interested in what people told him. We had many conversations over the years and he often talked about his three daughters and how much he loved them!

I worked with John on the Feature Desk at the News Chronicle. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was always such a proud father and spoke so highly of his daughters. When I asked him how anyone ever knows if they are ready to have children, he said if you wait until you are absolutely certain, then youll never have them.
