Weatherhead Young Funeral Home Obituary

John Anthony Montemurro, 84, of Brick, NJ passed away on August 13, 2025, after a short yet very difficult battle with cancer. He was born August 19,1940 to his 2 loving parents Philip and Mary. He was born in the Bronx, was raised in Portsmouth, VA and RiverVale, NJ. In
1961 he married his beloved wife Virginia Emily with whom they had 3 daughters with and raised in New Milford and Lodi before settling in Brick, NJ in the 1970’s.

John was a tool and dye maker before following his father’s footsteps into the construction business working with builders and suppliers prior to retiring in 2001. He was the family jokester always coming up with “dad jokes” all the while cracking himself up. He enjoyed watching
Yankee baseball and discussing it with his grandsons. He loved classic cars, they would make his face light up with excitement. John was also nostalgic for the olden days telling his family stories of his growing up, reliving the music of the 50’s and 60’s, still watching old reruns of his
favorite TV shows even though he probably watched them a 100 times.

Nothing was more important to John throughout his life than that of his family which encompassed his wife, daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and his in-laws. He used to say “you worry about raising your children, when you think it stops because they're grown it doesn’t, then you worry about your grandchildren”.

John is predeceased by his beloved wife Virginia, both parents Philip and Mary Montemurro and his sister MaryAnn Sudol. He is survived by his three daughters Laura Speer (Greg), Michele O’Hearn (Frank), Jennifer Hikade (James). His grandchildren David Kurinsky (Caitlin), Amanda
Spitalieri (Anthony), Sydney and Brandon O’Hearn, and Jonathan, Matthew and Kayla Hikade. His great grandchildren Ava, Kai, Anthony Jr and Leila. John is also survived by his brother Philip Montemurro (Marissa), his sister Lucretia Leake (Bob), his dear Marisa Busacca, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Visitation will be on Tuesday August 19, 2025 from 4-8 PM at Weatherhead Young Funeral Home - 885 Mantoloking Rd, Brick NJ.
