John Lewis Moon Dec. 1, 1917 — Jan. 11, 2010 John Lewis Moon, 92, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 in Millers Merry Manor, Marion. He was born in Milo to the late Frank and Nancy (Slater) Moon and had been a resident of Grant County for 67 years. He was a graduate of Jefferson Center School in Huntington County and prided himself in being the first one in his family to graduate from high school. He married Norma J. Neeley on May 23, 1942 at the Morris Chapel Church parsonage. She survives. John retired from Anaconda-Erickson, Marion in 1984. He formerly farmed, worked for Shirley Polley and Spencer Cardinal, Marion. After retirement John worked with his wife operating Moon’s Catering, Van Buren. He was an honorary member of the Van Buren Lions Club and a member of Central Christian Church in Van Buren. Survivors include wife, Norma J. Moon, Marion; daughter, Carolyn (Ted) Stevens, Marion; brother, George (Doris) Moon, Van Buren; grandchild, John H. (Melissa) Stevens, Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by parents; five sisters; and four brothers. Services are at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. Marion with Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial is in Gardens of Memory, Huntington Country. Visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
