Not sure what to say?

Rest in peace.

"looking around and see that some of you guys are in the best shape you will be in your life....I find that disgusting." That was my wake up call, went out for cross country, track, started biking, weight lifting a few years later. Thank you Mr. Mooney,if you only knew how that statement influenced my life. Marist H.S. class of '78

I'm so sorry to read this today. I wish I had been aware back in December. John is my first cousin and my mom, Mary Ellen Murray deceased, was his godmother. My dad Bill was his moms brother. We moved around through the years and lost track of our dear cousins. He was always a joy to be with. So happy and I was always amazed at his running distances. Our condolences to all the Mooneys and extended families. ❤RIP. love, Rita (Murray) And Leo Holleran.

I wish I had something better to say because for many of us whether you were a friend a family member or one of his students, Uncle John was a rock in your life, Uncle John was my dad's youngest brother, My brother Brian's godfather and his daughter Mary Beth is my mom's godaughter and my brother Patrick and him were like two peas in a pod, I am glad that I told him I loved him Like al my family I miss him and love him

Mr. Mooney shows up at the gates of heaven. St. Peter notices John isn't wearing shorts over his sweats. "Mooney. That's a deuce!" Rest in Peace

I've know Doc since the late 60s. He had a heart as big as his voice. Burgers at Bernie's, tipped a few at Briody's and summers in Belmar. RIP my friend. Slainte.

I met Doc around 1968 while hanging around Bernie's on Warner & Jackson Avenues. I always respected Doc and appreciated his words of wisdom. I hadn't seen him in years and then ran into him in Bayonne in the early 2000's. I was very happy to see him again and saw him a few more times before he moved. Great guy! Glad I knew him! Rest in Peace Doc.

Forever in our memory and hearts.

So many wonderful memories of Doc through the years in Jersey City, especially at Bernie's Ice Cream Parlor.
Rest easy my friend.
