Morrison, John Joseph
retired home builder, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 9, 2011 at age 78. He was born in Bronx, New York on June 24, 1932, moved to Phoenix in 1941 and attended Balsz grade school and Phoenix Union High School. John built many homes throughout the Valley with Staggs, Hallcraft, Wood Brothers (general superintendent), Crane Homes (vice president) and his own company, Vintage Homes. In 1990, he retired and built a home on the golf course with his wife, Carolyn, in Beaver Creek, AZ, where he worked part-time in the clubhouse. After returning to Scottsdale, he worked part-time remodeling homes and also for La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, where he was a member. He fully retired in 2006 at Palm Lakes Village in Phoenix. John could build anything, was always ready with a joke and loved golf, fishing and boating, playing cards and, of course, Sun Devil football. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavon and Noble Morrison. John is survived by Carolyn Morrison, his devoted wife of 57 years, daughters Pamela Roth (Clifford) and Kimberly Ault, brother Ralph "Lefty" Morrison, sister Virginia Hyatt, grandchildren Jennifer and Bradley Roth and Clint Ault, great-grandson London Snyder and several nieces, nephews and extended family. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, 6300 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ.
