August 30, 1918 - August 3, 2014 Resident of Thousand Oaks, born in San Francisco, CA. Veteran and Captain in World War II. Retired after 49 years with Bank of America. Survived by wife of 47 years, Phyllis sons Michael, Gregory & Thomas (deceased), 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

We work togheter at Bell Branch 365, he was the manager at that time I just got to the USA from Argentina and lived in LA for 7 years working at the bank. In 1976 came back to my country but I ll never forget those beautiful days .. Still homesick .. My love to Mr. Mortara...Que descanse en paz

Had the privilege to work for Mr. Mortara at Burbank Main Office in the mid 70's. A true gentleman and friend. My sincere sympathy to the family.

Phyllis Sandy and I are both very sad about the death of John. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time. John was one wonderful person and will be missed by all who knew him. I had to tell Baskin-Robbins bank story which shows how respected John was at the bank.

I first met John Mortara in the spring of 1972 and that meeting turned out to be one of the best days of my life. I had been the Chief Financial Officer of Baskin-Robbins for just over one year and our company was being spun off from our parent company, United Brands, in preparation for a public offering of Baskin-Robbins.
