Not sure what to say?

Murph is missed by working Vermonters, missed by all of his friends. John will be forever be a good friend. I learned a lot from him during my tenure as President of the AFL-CIO.

Aunt Flo, Johnny and Wanda - was so sorry to hear about Uncle John. I'm so sorry I didn't hear before his services. Our hearts are with you all.

I never met Rep. Murphy and I never lived in his district, but I once called him to commend him on a position he took on school administration. I began by saying, "I am not one of your constituents." He responded, "You are as much my constituent as anyone else in the state of Vermont," a comment I never forgot. He took the time to discuss the issue with me, and I ended by saying, "I wish I could vote for you--and I'm a Republican." We need more politicians who care more about people and...

To the Murphy family, I met this gentleman in the 70's at an event in Rutland - from that time on we were part of his group. As we came to know him better in our trips to Montpelier it was obvious why everyone relied on "Mr Murph" he took care of /helped everyone no mater what the political affiliation or cause. Bet he gets a charge out of me going back-up the hill- now, for the same reason he first got me going..Donna Hendee

Murphy Family, We are all sadden by Johns passing. He was indeed a wonderful man in every meaning of the words. God holds a special place in his kingdom for men like him.

My deepest sympathy to all of John's family. He was, indeed, the champion of labor and equity for all in the work force. I remember fondly participating in the March of Dimes Ride-In, snowmobiling from Weathersfield to Plymouth State Park. Of course John was there grilling hotdogs and, I think, burgers for all the participants. He was a man who stood up and was counted in supporting many, many causes.
Hold fast to all your wonderful memories of him, a most remarkable and energetic...

I have had no greater honor in my life than to have served in the Vermont House of Representatives with John Murphy. My sympathy and warm thoughts are with his family, community and the entire state of Vermont.

Dear Martha, we're saddened to hear of the loss of your uncle. Keeping you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.

I got to know John Murphy when I worked for Legislative Council. He was passionate, kind and principled and he always used those virtues to look out for the "little guy." I remember working with him on a bill to protect the right to dry -- hanging laundry -- and he and I had some good times trying to address the many concerns that bill raised. Vermont has lost a treasure.
