John was the most charming of men and one of the more intelligent and well read amongst us. I taught with him for many years and enjoyed our many discussions. I much admired John. Think of him often. His family has endured a great loss as we all knew of his children--he regarded them as special.

I am so very saddened by Pally's passing. We
had corresponded via email over the years and I
have a "Pally" file just full of his wonderful
stories. His writing ran the gamut of his life experiences and adventures, all written with passion and, of course, humor. I had just recently heard from him and have been eagerly awaiting his reply to my response. Sadly, that will never come. Rest in peace my friend.
