Not sure what to say?

I am so very sorry for your loss. I met John through his wife, Ginny. We worked together at Porter Starke Services many years ago. What a wonderful couple. We kept in touch even after we both went on to work in other places. John was someone who made you feel welcome and comfortable. He was quiet, but so sharp and funny. I am very blessed to have had them be a part of my life. Prayers for them and for their family. Rita

Sorry to learn of John's passing. A great guy for sure. I knew him in my time with the P-T in the late 1960s and early 1970s when general assignment reporters were allowed to supplement the sports department and cover high school sports. John was patient, tolerant and helpful in mentoring reporters heading out to cover events for the paper. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

I remember John....I was there at the start. I was on the Frankfort Indiana high school football team 1961-1963. John would visit our practices and do write ups on all our games for the Frankfort Morning Times. He was easy to talk to and always involved.

Best sports writer in northwest Indiana. Always took the time to report about region athletes. Thanks for all the great stories reported. Rest in peace

As a kid growing up in Gary, John represented a majority of my reading experiences. Both as a reporter and person, he was a wonderful part of Gary´s history.

As a notable Region Athlete ( 60's) -John was always more than fair in his reporting, assessment, and truthfulness. Others would assume stories heard by third parties and print them without verifying them. A Class Gentleman in everyway. Bless You John.

John was a great Sports Writer that always reported & kept up with High School Football & Basketball in the Region ! May he rest in Peace !

I lived across the street fom John and His family in Miller.I always enjoyed talking about sports with him.

John was my mentor and he didn't even know it. I read just about everything he wrote in his days at The Gary Post Tribune. I was Sports Editor of a local High School newspaper in the early 70s and thought John was the best. I even visited him at his office at the Tribune after I graduated and not too many years back traded emails when he retired. Thanks for the memories John!
