Not sure what to say?

I planted geraniums today in memory of you and Evie. You instilled a love of flower's that I still carry with me today.

It says you past on your (and your dad's) work ethic to your family and employees. I was 1 of those employees for many years, planting seedlings in flats. I learned much more than work ethics from you and Evie. I learned how to identify and care for so many varieties if vegetables like "Big Boy" tomatoes and flowers like "Pin Cushion" marigolds. Your family inspired me to be proud of my faith and see it everyday in God's glorious nature. Clear me a garden spot in Heaven. Say hello to Evie...

Miss you grandpa. Your in heaven and free from pain. Look forward to seeing you again. Granddaughter holly

So sad to learn of John's passing. Though I seldom saw John (and Evie) over the the last 60 years, they were always gracious, sweet, full of life and love, happy to see me again. We all have been blessed by having them in our lives. Sending sincere condolences, Priscilla (De Haan) and Andrew Tempelman

Our sympathy to you all in the loss of your Brother, Father, & Grandfather. I always remember John's ready grin, mild manner, and gentle humor when working at the greenhouse with him. Later ... There were yearly trips to his greenhouse to purchase beautiful geraniums. May your memories comfort you and knowing that he is home with the Lord.
Sincerely, Dick and Judy DeHaan

My husband, Joe and I joined Brookside in 1976 and John and Evie were some of our first friends. We were in a Bible study small group with them and always enjoyed our meetings They were both very giving in showing their love of the Lord and in showing this love to others. My condolences to the children, esp Bill and Harriet and their children, Heather and Holly that I became aquainted with at church.

Bill and Harriet- Sorry to hear about John's passing. Remembering him as a kind and gentle man. A neat memory I have is when I would go with my dad in the truck from K. DeHaan and Sons to visit John at the greenhouses on Union Avenue back in the greenhouse tomato days. Years later I got to know him and Evie at Brookside Church. Really enjoyed talking them there! Our thoughts are with your family at this time.

Wonderful memories of dear John & Evie
