It was a honor to serve under Captain Nicholson on the Ranger from 1974 - 1976. It was a learning experience to be supervised by his daughter Eve Nicholson at the CPA firm Weber Lipshie in the 1990s. My thoughts and prayers are with the Nicholson family,

The quintessential naval officer that just happened to be a consummate naval aviator. He would like it that way.

You were my dear friend over 35 years - dearly loved by my entire family. We miss you, Capt Nick. Press On.

Captain Nicholson was my very first Commanding Officer onboard The Ranger. He was the true definition of what Leadership is supposed to be. A truly great and humble man, he most definitely left his mark for others to follow. If we are lucky in life we get that one person that makes that impression on us and leads us to heights we never imagined, Captain John L. Nicholson was that man for me! Fair winds and following Seas Captain and "Press On"

I served under Captain Nicholson aboard the Ranger. He was an outstanding officer and a fine gentleman.

A Salute from all USS Ranger Sailors! Fair Well, Sir, Job well done!
