When I started as an Assistant Professor at the UNiversity of Colordo Health Sciences Center in 1985, John was the first faculty that I invited to come speak in our weekly seminar series. He was a leader in pituitary molecular biology, and we became close colleagues and friends. He was a terrific mentor as well. He asked me to serve as an advisor to his Pharmacology T32 and MSTP T32 at CWRU; we served together on NIH study sections; we would see each other yearly at the Endocrine Society...
