John P. “Spike” Nolan 87 of Brick Township died Tuesday July 5th 2022 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. John was born and raised in Jersey City. He lived there until 1975 when he moved his family to Brick.
John retired many years ago as a bus driver in Jersey City. He worked for Public Service which eventually became NJ Transit.
He was a member of St. Dominic’s R.C. Church in Brick Township and a life member of the Elks Lodge in Brick.
John was predeceased by his wife Catherine in 2010. He was also predeceased by his sisters Teresa Boyer and Elizabeth Vibbard.
Surviving are his four children, John Nolan and his wife Linda of Brick, William Nolan and his wife Nancy of Brick, Kathleen Costigan and her husband William of South Carolina and Patricia Curley and her husband Edward of Brick. Two brothers, Martin Nolan of Brick and James Nolan of Howell. Two sisters, Annamae Edmundson of Brick and sister Marcella Nolan of Convent station. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
Viewing hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home 2170 Hwy. 88 Brick. A mass of Christian burial will be offered on Monday 10:00am at St. Dominic’s R.C. Church in Brick. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lakewood, NJ.
