CONCORD - John Edward "Jack" Odey, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday. March 23, 2014, at CRVNA Hospice House, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born Sept. 16, 1936, to Mary Josephine (Murphy) and Edward James Odey.
He attended St. John's School where he was an All-America athlete playing football, basketball and baseball and graduated in 1954. He was elected to the Catholic Schools Hall of Fame.
He attended the University of New Hampshire and then joined the U.S. Army where he served in Korea.
After his military service, he began work at Concord Litho Co. where he was employed as a pressman for 40 years. He was an avid golfer and sports fan.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Kathleen Mary.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emily Anne (Kachmar) Odey of Concord; a daughter, Karin Anne Truitte and her husband David of Lynchburg, Va.; two sons, Colonel (ret.) John Michael Odey and his wife Sharon (Ross) of O'Fallon, Ill., and Edward James Odey II of Leominster, Mass.; five grandsons, Kevin Edward Truitte of Washington D.C., Ryan Joseph, Jeffrey Michael, Matthew David, and Nathan Thomas Truitte, all of Lynchburg, Va.; a sister, Louise Dunn and her husband Arthur of Northport, Fla.; several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was very proud of all of his family.

SERVICES: There are no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 180 Loudon Road, Concord. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J.
